There is much debate over the practice of making scans available online during the same month of release as the originals. There is a concern that those zero-hour torrents will have a direct effect on sales of the original. There is an argument that the cannibalization of readers could lead to the cancellation of titles that publisher consider to be poor sellers. The DCP encourages the practice of buying original copies of titles that are scanned. However, even the encouragement to buy comics is doubtful since the scanned copies are usually available on the day of the comic's release to the store or even before that. SEE ALSO |
