The song was the group's foray into the then-new trend of Disco and hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on March 13 , 1976 , also reaching #1 in the United Kingdom . Drummer Gerri Polci shares lead vocals with Frankie Valli . Polci starts the song with the first verse with Valli coming in the second. The song was re-released with remixed vocals in 1994, and reached #14. Also, French signer Claude François notoriously covered the song in the 1970s . It became the hit ''Cette année-là'' (That year), with new lyrics reminiscing François' own beginnings in Show Business , in the year 1962 . Gerri Polci went on to become a beloved Middle School band teacher in New Providence Middle School. The remixed version from 1994 spent over a year on the Billboard charts. EXTERNAL LINK |
