Information About

David A. Hill (scientist)

David Andrew Hill is a biologist at the National Institutes Of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, United States Of America . He is known for his studies of nutrient acquisition pathways in '' Plasmodium Falciparum '', the parasite which causes Malaria .

Specifically, David studies an essential ion channel in ''Plasmodium falciparum'' called the Plasmodial Surface Anion Channel (PSAC). This important ion channel has been recognized as an exciting new target for anti-malarial development, garnering high-level funding from the Medicines For Malaria Venture . The unique functional properties of this channel suggest that PSAC is not related to human ion channels. PSAC is of interest to scientists and physicians as an exciting new drug and vaccine target.

David was born in Florida, USA but later moved to Bellevue, Washington where he attended Sammamish High School and participated in the school band and student leadership. David is an alumnus of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. David is the brother of James T. Hill of the band Surrounded By Lions .
