Cult Clash began its life as and New Wave Music genres. The main inspirations for Cult Clash are Harry Knowles' Aint It Cool News and a now defunct website called Tomb of DVD. Cult Clash's name has been attributed to two sources: CULT cinema and the UK punk band The Clash . Roberts maintains the site's name actually is a reference to a "culture clash", representing the sites many cross-cultural media interests. Cult Clash has remained a generally underground site without lots of major media exposure and Roberts continues to write reviews, design graphical content and post the latest news connected to the cutting edge of pop culture. "What I don't want is have Cult Clash turn into some big stuffy m ainstream website, I want it to stay more like a cool hippie/punk rock fanzine you'd see on the racks in the city". On being a journalist: "I really don't consider myself a journalist at all. I know people who wr ite 100 times better than I do. For me, it s really about the bigger picture, its what I'm covering and how I present it to the reader." On not having internet fame, Roberts simply states "My interests really aren't based on that, I think being famous is really just a state of mind anyway. In the end, what matters most to me when it comes to being an artist is the freedom to express my ideas and to have a good time doing it." í |
