It includes Morehead City, Beaufort; Emerald Isle, Swansboro, Jacksonville, Verona, Sneads Ferry, Topsail Beach, Surf City, Holly Ridge; Hampstead, Scotts Hill, Figure Eight Isle, Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach, Masonboro Island, Pleasure Island including Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Forth Fisher; Sothport, Caswell Beach, Oak Island, Holden Beach, and Ocean Isle; in SC all of North Myrtle Beach, Atlantic Beach, Myrtle Beach, and down to Surfside Beach is considered part of the Crystal Coast.
With many new varieties of muscadine grapes bred specifically for generations to provide a palatable wine with a unique quality, some people feel in the late 21st century this area will be the heartland of the new 'American Bordeaux'. The beaches are comparable to any worldwide, are uncrowded, and the coast is a diamond in the rough, but its crystal heart shines through.
