Cricket Am






Cricket AM is a British sports radio program presented by Simon Thomas and Anita Rani , seated on the familiar set and sofa of Soccer AM, the show sets out to blend cricket and entertainment in a 90-minute package, starting at 9am.

From the end of the domestic football season to the start of the new campaign, it replaces Soccer AM in the Sky Sports schedules and, like its Football counterpart, will feature a range of regular programming features.

Key to the series is England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff as he tries out a different sport each week, with the help of a well-known tutor, in Ready Steady Freddie.

Can he bend it like Beckham? Drive it like Tiger? Kick it like Charlie? Viewers will find out on Cricket AM.

Features have already been filmed with world champion boxer Ricky Hatton, England rugby union fly-half Charlie Hodgson and world darts champion Phil Taylor.

Throughout the series, Cricket AM will feature guests from a range of sports and showbiz, including Kevin Pietersen and Razorlight.

It will be staged live at Sky's west London studios and the show's zoo-style studio audience will be made up of players from the npower Village Cup, the country's biggest club cricket competition.

Each week there will also be a review of the best moments from domestic and international cricket and viewers will be kept up to date with the sport's biggest hitters as the Sky Sports Sixes League and Sky Sports International Sixes League are updated.


REGULAR FEATURES ON CRICKET AM WILL INCLUDE:


  • READY STEADY FREDDIE - the England all-rounder tries his hand at a variety of sports under the watchful eye of various sporting greats. Can he bend it like Beckham? The feature not only underlines Freddie's natural sporting eye, but provides viewers with the basics to a range of sports.


  • BEEFY'S BASICS - England cricket legend and Sky Sports commentator teaches a group of youngsters the tricks of the trade employed by the world's top players in various areas of the game.


  • IT'S THROW TIME - each week players from a different county team take part in fielding practice with a difference, throwing at a set of stumps with their wrong arm! Set to be a hilarious feature with many big names sure to be humbled.


  • CHAMPAGNE CORK - Former England all-rounder and Lancashire regular Dominic Cork is renowned for his colouful opinions and each week on Cricket AM, he'll cast his eye over the best - and worst - moments of the week.


  • DUCK HUNT - Cricket AM launches a hunt for the country's worst batsman from the amateur game. Players and clubs will be encouraged to send in examples of bad play with a winner each week being awarded 'The Eye-In' a new Australian batting aid.


  • CAR PARK CALYPSO - Each week members of the audience will be encouraged to try out their bowling skills in the Cricket AM car park.
