''De hooggeboren heer (The highborn lord)'' Claus-Casimir Bernhard Marius Max van Oranje-Nassau van Amsberg (born 21 March , 2004 at Bronovo Hospital in The Hague ), Count of Orange-Nassau, Jonkheer van Amsberg, is the son of Prince Constantijn Of The Netherlands , Prince of Orange-Nassau, Jonkheer van Amsberg and Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands, born Brinkhorst. His birth was overshadowed by the death, only days before, of his great-grandmother Princess Juliana Of The Netherlands . He is the first grandson of Queen Beatrix and the second child and first son of Prince Constantijn. His older sister Countess Eloise was born 8 June , 2002 . On 1 December 2005 , his parents announced that they are expecting their third child, due to be born in June of 2006 . By Royal Decree of 11 May 2001, nr. 227 is determined that all children of Prince Constantijn of the Netherlands will bear the title of ''Count (Countess) of Orange-Nassau'' and the predicate ''Jonkheer (Jonkvrouwe) van Amsberg'', and have the surname ''Van Oranje-Nassau van Amsberg''. The titles are hereditary in male lineage. When asked about their choice of name, the new parents said their little boy had been named after his grandfather Claus Von Amsberg , who died in 2002 , and three Friesian stadtholders who were all called Casimir. "If he develops more as a Claus, then it will be Claus, if he develops more as a Casimir, it will be Casimir," explained his father. His christening took place at Het Loo palace in Apeldoorn in October 2004. Claus-Casimir's godparents are: Prince Willem-Alexander Of The Netherlands , Prince Maurits Of Orange-Nassau, Van Vollenhoven , Ed P. Spanjaard, and Countess Tatiana Razumovsky. Count Claus-Casimir is currently sixth in line to the Dutch throne. |
