Conway Reef




Conway Reef, known in Reef situated at 21.77° South and 174.52° East. It has one small Cay , about 600 meters long and 1.5 meters high. The reef is uninhabited.

The reef was discovered in 1838 by the British Naval officer Captain Drinkwater Bethune of the '' HMS Conway ,'' and was mapped several years later by Captain Denham of the '' HMS Herald .'' Two Shipwreck s ( 1979 and 1981 ) have occurred on the reef.

It was reported in 1983 that there was some vegetation on the cay, but it was bare by 1985 .
