It was a very strange match, played even though team players from both sides had explicitly stated that the match should not be played out of respect for Foé. The Cameroon players did their best to take the trophy home in honour of their team mate, while the only French player to seem interested and play at his best was Thierry Henry . His goal in extra time gave France the trophy. The presentation of medals and trophies has to be one of football's most moving episodes. Two Cameroon players held a gigantic photo of Foé, and a runner-up medal was hung to the edge of the photo too. When Marcel Desailly was presented with the Confederations Cup, he did not lift it up high, but held it in unison with Cameroon captain Rigobert Song . PARTICIPATING TEAMS
