Compass Airlines is an unofficial name for the rumored regional carrier subsidiary to Northwest Airlines . (Previously known as "NewCo") It is speculated that this branch of the airline will be founded flying Embraer E-Jets , or Bombardier CRJ-900 s to replace the aging Douglas DC-9 s, and will operate under a separate operating certificate from mainline due to pilot union regulations. Backing up this speculation, Northwest Airlines purchased the operating certificate of now defunct Independence Air on March 10 , 2006 , for $2 Million. |
