On March 3 , 1871 , U.S. President Ulysses S. Grant had signed an Act of Congress which ended the making of treaties with Indians, and ended the existence of Indian Nations. Prior to the enactment of H.R.2615, about 97 groups of Indians had reached about 653 treaties with settlers. Comanche Indians were of Shoshonean Stock . They were allied to the Kiowa . The Comanche reservation was thrown open to settlement in 1901 . |
