Information About

Colin Brinded

Brinded began officiating in 1976 and he kept order on a number of big occasions. He officiated the World Championship final between Stephen Hendry and Mark Williams in 1999 and refereed the infamous 2004-2005 season's 'slow-play' match between Peter Ebdon and Ronnie O'Sullivan at The Crucible Theatre .

Brinded died after a short battle with cancer. In BBC2 's coverage of the UK Championship on December 9 2005 tributes came from fellow Referee Eirien Williams , veteran Commentator and Journalist Clive Everton , and players John Parrott , Stephen Hendry , and reigning World Champion Shaun Murphy , who described Brinded variously as a true professional, and a gentleman.
