''Fugo Medina'' The Club Chufa (the most acceptable translation would be "Scorn Club") is an artistic movement that was created by Carlos Pacheco, Fugo Medina and Cecilia Catalán in november, 1998, during their first year of studies in the School of Linguistics and Literature in the Universidad de Sonora in Hermosillo, México. In the fasion of collective movements as The Cacophony Societies, {Link without Title} , El Club Chufa tries to draw attention on cultural issues that are in fact unimportant or absurd. With activities in literature, social disobedience, visual arts and film, El Club Chufa's imperial-like ambitions try to spread in a non stop stream of local propaganda and the creation of myths and urban legends. HISTORY Carlos Pacheco took the idea of El Club Chufa from El libro de Buen Amor, in which the Author, Juan Ruiz, Arcipreste de Hita, mentions an obscure word: chufa, referring to the character of the book: "Mine it is not a book of scorn..." In the words of Fugo Medina, El Club Chufa's birth is a little more mythical: "It was in a Creative Writing Workshop during the Literature's B.A. classes. Luis Lope was scorned by professor Jesus Antonio Villa (deceased); the latter laughed and thus inspired the Scorn Club into Luis Lope's brain. Villa was the creator of the movement and V. Schüller Will(deceased), is the Official Sentinel, even when neither of them know about it. Pacheco, Medina and Catalán thought of the Club as a literary Avant- garde movement but after Pacheco's experience with various literary clubs, the Club became comprehensive, involving in its plans all of the liberal arts and the new media arts and hybrids of all nature. Carlos Pacheco considers the Club can be defined as a group of: "Narrative bureaucrats and tactic, cold poetry-plotters; our proposal to the world is nurtured by Islamic irrationality and Western Stupidity, along with Eastern absurd and African darkness... we are the World."
