Clinton is a village located in Lenawee County, Michigan . As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 2,293. The village is located within Clinton Township . Both the village and township are named in honor of DeWitt Clinton , the governor of New York from 1817 to 1823 . GEOGRAPHY According to the United States Census Bureau , the village has a total area of 4.0 Km&2 (1.5 Mi&2 ). 3.9 km&2 (1.5 mi&2) of it is land and 0.1 km&2 (0.04 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 1.96% water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 2,293 people, 925 households, and 624 families residing in the village. The Population Density was 594.2/km&2 (1,533.8/mi&2). There were 965 housing units at an average density of 250.1/km&2 (645.5/mi&2). The racial makeup of the village was 98.52% White , 0.13% African American , 0.22% Native American , 0.13% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.44% from Other Races , and 0.57% from two or more races. 1.66% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 925 households out of which 33.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.0% were Married Couples living together, 12.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.5% were non-families. 27.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 3.03. In the village the population was spread out with 27.3% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 31.2% from 25 to 44, 20.7% from 45 to 64, and 13.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 90.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.7 males. The median income for a household in the village was $47,961, and the median income for a family was $52,111. Males had a median income of $45,750 versus $29,500 for females. The Per Capita Income for the village was $20,513. 6.5% of the population and 4.1% of families were below the Poverty Line . 10.9% of those under the age of 18 and 3.3% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
