The Town of Clinton is located in the northwest corner of the county. US Route 11 crosses the town. (Another Town Of Clinton is in Dutchess County , New York. HISTORY The area was settled before 1820. The town was set apart from the Town Of Ellenburg in 1845 . GEOGRAPHY According to the United States Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 173.9 Km&2 (67.1 Mi&2 ). 173.8 km&2 (67.1 mi&2) of it is land and 0.1 km&2 (0.04 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 0.04% water. The northern town line is the border of Quebec , Canada in Canada , and the western town line is the border of the Town Of Chateaugay in Franklin County , New York. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 727 people, 270 households, and 201 families residing in the town. The Population Density was 4.2/km&2 (10.8/mi&2). There were 348 housing units at an average density of 2.0/km&2 (5.2/mi&2). The racial makeup of the town was 98.35% White , 0.28% African American , 0.00% Native American , 0.14% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.28% from Other Races , and 0.96% from two or more races. 0.28% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 270 households out of which 31.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.4% were Married Couples living together, 7.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.2% were non-families. 19.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.69 and the average family size was 3.08. In the town the population was spread out with 26.3% under the age of 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 13.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 113.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 114.4 males. The median income for a household in the town was $28,750, and the median income for a family was $34,375. Males had a median income of $25,804 versus $27,292 for females.
