Clayton is a town located in Polk County, Wisconsin . As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 912. The Village Of Clayton is located within the town. GEOGRAPHY According to the United States Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 87.6 Km&2 (33.8 Mi&2 ). 86.1 km&2 (33.2 mi&2) of it is land and 1.6 km&2 (0.6 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 1.80% water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 912 people, 360 households, and 263 families residing in the town. The Population Density was 10.6/km&2 (27.4/mi&2). There were 412 housing units at an average density of 4.8/km&2 (12.4/mi&2). The racial makeup of the town was 99.23% White , 0.00% Black or African American , 0.33% Native American , 0.11% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.00% from Other Races , and 0.33% from two or more races. 0.66% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 360 households out of which 32.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.8% were Married Couples living together, 4.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.9% were non-families. 23.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 2.94. In the town the population was spread out with 26.1% under the age of 18, 5.5% from 18 to 24, 27.3% from 25 to 44, 28.8% from 45 to 64, and 12.3% who were 65 years of age or older.
