Membership is open to private aircraft owners and pilots, as well as to those who wish to receive training as spotters and navigators. Members receive training in fields such as aviation safety, meteorology, survival awareness and search techniques and procedures. CASARA is a civilian organization and is not directly affiliated with the Department Of Transport , nor with the Canadian Air Force , although both organizations sometimes call upon its members for assistance, particularly in Search And Rescue operations, in which case members are compensated for their fuel and other expenditures. As such, CASARA should not be directly compared with the Civil Air Patrol in the United States , which operates as a civlian extension to the United States Air Force . SEE ALSO EXTERNAL LINK |
