OBJECTIVES Children's AIDS Health Program's primary objective is to be an organization that helps provide treatment for AIDS for children under the age of 16. Children's AIDS Health Program is an organization that encourages youth to be involved with this cause. Its goal is not only to educate children with AIDS, but also to educate others to prevent AIDS. Its long-term goal is to build a health care centre in third world countries specializing in AIDS for children. Aside from treatment and education of AIDS, Children's AIDS Health Program helps children with AIDS to live their life as a kid and not miss out on their childhood. Its secondary objective is to provide one-on-one support for families with children with AIDS. Children's AIDS Health Program also plans to expand its cause throughout the world and create awareness. ''Health'' To develop or promote public health in developing nations that give us permission by educating and instructing the public on prevention of, and curative measures for, health problems caused by AIDS and by researching and documenting changes in the health of the community. Qualified members will go to the locations where there is a HIV/AIDS problem and instruct people about prevention and care of AIDS. For example, we will have members of the organization visit South Africa in July 2006 to assess the situation of the crisis in that country and speak to residents and visit rural communities. During visits to other countries, notes will be taken to keep track of the severity and situation of the disease there and to measure any progress. This will help make sure that our efforts will be helping the city and other organizations. We plan to keep this information available to the public (once proper permission is received from the country’s government). We research HIV/AIDS and the nature of the disease in order to be more capable of responding to questions the public (including Canadians) may have about this illness and to spread awareness of its effects and preventative measures. ''Health Care Centre'' To operate a community health care centre by providing medical, health and support services for the general public. This is part of our five-year goal, once there are sufficient funds for a centre to be built and run successfully. We will have to make sure that the centre can be run by local members and volunteers. This health care centre will be established in a third world country. It will be built by the organization and will be run and maintained by the collaborative efforts of Children’s AIDS Health Program employees, volunteers and the local administration, if possible. Children’s AIDS Health Program will hold title to property. This community health care centre will be staffed by any willing employees and volunteers from Canada or elsewhere and by locals or natives of the country. The employee criteria will depend on the nature of the job. For instance, doctors and nurses will have to at least have the country’s standards. Speakers (local or not local) will have to have an understanding of HIV prevention and care (this can be provided by the members of the organization and the staff) and will have to be easy to understand for the general public. Maintenance workers will have to prove their abilities to members of the organization. They will be required to prove their abilities and past experience. If a secretary is required, he/she will have to be able to speak, read and write in English and/or possibly French. Construction funding for the centre will be a special project funded by corporations and other businesses. Since one of our goals is to educate others, we believe that it will be wise to teach volunteers and staff members fundraising skills. Fundraising activities will still be held throughout Canada. This centre will serve the general population, more specifically children under the age of 16, of the community’s area. Support services that will be provided for the general public will include education about AIDS; the disease, prevention and care, and provision of medicine, and the provision of emotional support. ''Health Care Co-ordination'' To coordinate and provide health care and social services through the health care centre for people with debilitating diseases, illnesses and conditions caused by AIDS. The social services will include emotional support for sick, dying or deceased victims of AIDS and their families. ''Research'' To conduct research into the causes, controls and cure of debilitating diseases, illnesses and conditions related to AIDS. This will be done by observation of the affected children and by taking notes on their progress, family and living conditions, in order to find possible causes and other preventative cautions that can be taken. ''Mutual Support'' To provide support for those affected by debilitating diseases, illnesses and conditions related to HIV/AIDS and the families and friends of victims. Members of the organization and possibly counsellors from our organization will provide emotional support to children affected by AIDS. The health care centre will also be a spot where residents in similar situations may gather to talk and help each other as these people will have the best understanding of each other’s troubles. SOUTH AFRICA 2006 Children's AIDS Health Program will be heading to South Africa in July 2006. The main objective of this mission is to develop awareness among youth about the situation of the HIV/AIDS crisis. From this trip Children's AIDS Health Program will be able to bring stories back to local schools across North America and continue to create awareness among youth of all ages. At these various orphanages Children's AIDS Health Program will be conducting workshops to educate children about the crisis they are currently battling. More importantly these workshops will implicate the value of children living their childhood, having the freedom to express creativity and demonstrate their knowledge and ideas. Children's AIDS Health Program will be delivering Anti-Retroviral Medication to children in various orphanages in South Africa, as well as books, AIDS awareness material, social services, toys, sports, and education.
