The magazine covers a variety of women's interests, from fashion and relationships to health information, profiles of successful women and journalism on social and political issues relevant to women. From 1957 to 1977 , the magazine's editor was Doris Anderson , under whose tenure ''Chatelaine'' was a leader in Canadian coverage of women's issues and the rise of Feminism as a social phenomenon. The magazine is also the subject of K.d. Lang 's song "Miss Chatelaine"; the famous line "I can't explain why I've become Miss Chatelaine" expresses lang's surprise at having been selected as the magazine's Woman of the Year in 1988 .
