The Chartered Institute of Marketing is the professional organisation of Marketing professionals in the United Kingdom .



The CIM {Link without Title} is the world's largest professional marketing body with 50,000 members worldwide. They define the marketing standards that operate in the UK and champion Best Practice globally.



Their main objectives are to develop the marketing profession, maintain professional standards and improve the skills of marketing practitioners, enabling them to deliver exceptional results for their organisations.



They provide membership, British Professional Qualifications - internationally recognised - and training to marketing professionals around the world.




MEMBERSHIPS

Membership of The Chartered Institute of Marketing is open to anyone working or interested in marketing.



Types of membership

The different types of memberships reflect the level of marketing experience and level of marketing education. They are:
  • Affiliate Member (Professional): open to anyone; no previous qualifications or experience required

  • Affiliate Member (Studying): studying for a CIM qualification

  • Associate: 4 or more years experience in marketing (one of which at management level)

  • Chartered Marketer: Highest grade of membership and is awarded by CIM in recognition of practical experience, expertise and sound theoretical knowledge. Requires continuous training (CPD).

  • Full Member: Completed CIM qualification or a high enough level of proven practical experience.

  • Fellow: Academic qualifications of a full member plus a proven record of experience and expertise.
