Lady Charlotte Susan Maria Campbell was the daughter of Field Marshal Sir John Campbell, 5th Duke Of Argyll and Elizabeth Campbell, 1st Baroness Hamilton . Lady Charlotte married Colonel John Campbell on 21 June 1796. Her second husband was the Reverend Edward John Bury, whom she married on 17 March 1818. Her novels included '' Flirtation '', '' Separation '', '' The Divorced '', etc., but is chiefly remembered in connection with a '' Diary Illustrative Of The Times Of George IV '' (1838), a somewhat scandalous work generally, and probably correctly, ascribed to her. She also wrote some poems and two devotional works. She held for some time an appointment in the household of Caroline Of Brunswick , Princess Of Wales . |
