Charlotte Elizabeth Boyle, Baroness Clifford gained the title of Baroness Clifford, suo jure. Her married name became Cavendish. It was through this marriage that the Cavendish family, main title the Dukes of Devonshire, inherited Richard Boyle, 3rd Earl of Burlington's estates (the title went through to the Orrery Boyles). These estates include Burlington House , Piccadilly , London (now the Royal Academy Of Arts ); Chiswick House , London W4; Londesborough Hall , Yorkshire ; Bolton Abbey , Yorkshire ; Lismore Castle , County Waterford , Ireland . She was his sole remaining heir. Originally Richard Boyle and his wife Dorothy Saville had four children. One daughter and a son died in infancy. The eldest daughter, Dorothy was 'murdered' through the neglect of her husband, Lord Euston . Only Charlotte survived her father (only by about a year) and had produced children to carry on this bloodline of the Boyles.
