Information About

Charlotte (figure Skating)

The charlotte, ''also known as '''candle stick''','' is a Figure Skating grace move - one of the Spirals , where the skater is bent and glides on one leg with the other one lifted into the air. Some very flexible skaters are able to lift the leg almost to the standing Split position. A charlotte can be performed either forward or backward, but the forward Charlotte is more difficult and is rarely performed.

The charlotte was performed for the first time by a German skater Charlotte Oelschlagel , in early 1900s , after whom the move is named.

The position has been almost never been performed by men, except for Rohene Ward and a few others.
