Information AboutChandraayan-1 |
|
Chandraayan-1 is an Indian lunar-orbiting space probe currently being built by the Indian Space Research Organisation . It may use a US Department Of Defence -supplied Radar to search for lunar ice. Its ice-detecting capabilities could be greatly enhanced if the mission is carried out in tandem with NASA Lunar Orbiter , using a technique known as Bistatic Imaging , where two different radar instruments are used, one emitting and one receiving, to paint an accurate picture of the surface of an object, differentiating between a rocky and an icy surface. The launch data for the Indian satellite is set for September of 2007. SOURCE |
