Information About

Chalk Circle

Originally formed in Bowmanville in 1983 as Rudolph and his Fucking Reindeer, the band briefly changed its name to New Edition in 1984 , and finally settled on the name Chalk Circle (taken from Bertolt Brecht 's play '' Caucasian Chalk Circle ''.)

After winning the CASBY Award for best new non-recording artist in 1985 , the band signed to Duke Street Records and released its debut, ''The Great Lake'', in 1986 . They released two further albums, and had Top 40 hits with "April Fool", "Me, Myself & I", "This Mourning" and a cover of T-Rex 's "20th Century Boy".

The band broke up in 1990 , and Tait went on to form the band Big Faith .

In 2006 , Universal Music released a Chalk Circle Greatest Hits compilation as part of its 20th Century Masters series. On February 9 of that year, the band played a reunion show in Toronto.
