Centralia in Braxton County , West Virginia was so named because it is in the central part of a county which also happens to be at the geographic center of the state. Its ZIP Code is 26612. Centralia was also the codename behind the upcoming film '' Silent Hill '' based on Konami 's Video Game Franchise . However, the name was scraped and remained Silent Hill. Strangely enough, the story takes place in West Virginia, but to match the game's location, Braxton County was replaced by Toluca County. Originally named Silent Hill, many strange things were happening during the early 1810's. During the time period, unexplained and bizarre incidents occurred. Time passed and Silent Hill grew more popular and many tourists started arriving. In the 1970s, a huge fire started during a religious ceremony. Most of the town was burnt to the ground. More than half of the bodies were never found. Then, the darkness came. It destroyed any curious wanderers that entered Silent Hill. It is still there say witnesses, today. Fires continued to rage underground in the coal mines. They say there is a little grl who roams to this day around the town |
