Central is a Station on the Chicago Transit Authority 's 'L' System , on the Purple Line at 1022 Central Street in Evanston, Illinois (directional coordinates 2600 north, 1000 west).Landmarks close to the station are Evanston Hospital , a Fire Station , Peter Jans golf course, and the parking lot for the Chandler Newburger Recreation Center. Ryan Field (formerly known as Dyche Stadium), the home of Northwestern University 's football team, is a few blocks west of the station. Just past Ryan Field on the north side of the street is the Evanston landmark Mustard's Last Stand , a hot dog stand that specializes in the bacon double cheeseburger.
