The centimetre is a Base Unit in the Centimetre-gram-second systems of units, now largely but not completely supplanted by the International System Of Units (SI). One inch is 2.54 cm. Centimetres are used to measure small lengths. A centimetre is approximately the width of an adult fingernail or the black keys of a piano. One cubic centimetre in volume is equal to one Millilitre . See 1 E-2 M for a comparison with other lengths. See also: Orders Of Magnitude , Conversion Of Units Millimetre << centimetre << Decimetre SEE ALSO
