GEOGRAPHY

Centerville is located at 40°1'51" North, 79°57'33" West (40.030766, -79.959107).

According to the United States Census Bureau , the borough has a total area of 35.2 Km&2 (13.6 Mi&2 ). 34.3 km&2 (13.2 mi&2) of it is land and 0.9 km&2 (0.3 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 2.57% water.


DEMOGRAPHICS

As of the Census of 2000, there were 3,390 people, 1,359 households, and 971 families residing in the borough. The Population Density was 98.8/km&2 (255.9/mi&2). There were 1,455 housing units at an average density of 42.4/km&2 (109.8/mi&2). The racial makeup of the borough was 98.85% White , 0.18% African American , 0.15% Native American , 0.21% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.24% from Other Races , and 0.38% from two or more races. 0.27% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 1,359 households out of which 27.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.7% were Married Couples living together, 10.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.5% were non-families. 26.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 3.00.

In the borough the population was spread out with 21.7% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 25.9% from 45 to 64, and 19.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 92.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.0 males.

The median income for a household in the borough was $34,598, and the median income for a family was $40,741. Males had a median income of $35,804 versus $23,245 for females. The Per Capita Income for the borough was $16,648. 13.3% of the population and 8.1% of families were below the Poverty Line . 24.8% of those under the age of 18 and 13.1% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
