A catchword is a Word placed at the foot of a Print ed page. The word is the first word of the following page. Its purpose is to ease the work of the Bookbinder and ensure that the pages are in the correct order. This practise is now pretty much obsolete in modern printing. It is also helpful for people who are reading outloud and eases their transition while they turn the page, this however was not the intended usage. SEE ALSO REFERENCE
