Castle Air Museum is located in Atwater, California . It is the largest Museum displaying vintage Aircraft in the western United States . The museum opened in 1981 , and displays 47 restored aircraft. The outdoor museum covers 11 acres, and includes a Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird as well as a Boeing B-52 D Stratofortress. An indoor museum features Photograph s, Engine s, and a Flight Deck . The museum is open every day of the year except New Years Day , Easter , Thanksgiving , Christmas Eve , and Christmas Day . AIRCRAFT ON DISPLAY AIRCRAFT UNDERGOING PREPARATION The following aircraft are present at the museum, but are not yet on display. FUTURE AQCUISITIONS The museum is working to get five more planes added to its inventory. The museum needs more donated funds before it can get these planes. SEE ALSO REFERENCES
