Cartoon Intifada




The Cartoon Intifada is a name given by members of the Western media to the series of demonstrations orgainzed in February 2006 by certain Middle Eastern governments and radical clerics. The demonstrators claim that the protests are in response to the cartoons published in Danish newspapers in September 2005.

Protests include:
- Fen 2, 2006 - Gaza: Fatah assaults European Union office
- Feb 4, 2006 - Syria: Syrians have set fire to the Norwegian and Danish embassies in Damascus
- Feb 5, 2006 - Lebanon: protestors set fire to the Danish Consulate on fire in anger over cartoons
- Feb 6, 2006 - Iran: Danish and Austrian embassies in Tehran attacked
- Feb 6, 2006 - Iran: French, UK embassies attacked in Iran

Condoleezza Rice, Secretary of State of the United States of America has accused Iran and Syria of organizing many of the recent protests in Iran, Syria and Lebanon.
