Cape Verde Parliamentary Election, 2006

A parliamentary election took place in Cape Verde on 22 January 2006 . This was the country's fourth legislative election since the introduction of Multiparty politics in 1990 .

Five political parties fielded candidates for seats in the 72-member National Assembly . They are the ruling African Party For The Independence Of Cape Verde (PAICV), Movement For Democracy (MpD), Democratic Renewal Party (PRD), Social Democratic Party , and the Democratic And Independent Cape Verdean Union (UCID). Only the PAICV and MpD have presented candidates in every electoral Constituency .
