Canterbury is a Railway Station on the Lilydale and Belgrave lines in Melbourne , Australia . It is 11 Km from Flinders Street Station and is located in Metcard ticketing Zones 1 and 2. The station is unmanned and is directly adjacent to the shopping district at Maling Road . HISTORY The first station at this site, at ground level, was opened on December 1 , 1882 . At the time, there was only a single track to the city. Later, the number of tracks would increase to three, and the station and rails would be elevated to alleviate the blockage of Canterbury Road traffic at the level crossing.
