Canterbury, New Brunswick




The village, which is located 10 minutes off the Trans Canada Highway on Route 122, now has a population of 399, based on 2001 census data. The village is 45 minutes from Fredericton and a half hour from the U.S. border.

The CP Rail line was the main center of the village, transporting people and goods to and from until its closure in the early 1990s. The Canterbury Railway Station still stands on Main Street.

Canterbury has a School , which educates students from kindergarten to grade 12 all in one building. The school has escaped closure several times, but had its future sealed in 2002 with an extensive contruction overhaul and addition of a new gym.

The village was incorporated in the early 1970s and has a village office on Main Street.
