The organization was formed in 1994, and has a membership of just over 9,800 instructors and coaches. One of its key goals is to ensure that a national standard of safe and efficient snowboard instruction is maintained. CASI is divided into 6 regions: British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba/Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic. Each region has a Regional Coordinator to address regional concerns and administer Level 1 instructor and coaching certification courses. There are four levels of certification for instructors.
