DETAILS Busan Subway Line 3 began to construct from 1996. The first phase is from Suyeong station (stn no. 301) to Daejeo (stn no. 317), 17 stations, 18.3 kilometers long, two car depots. The second phase (or AGT branch) will be from Minam to Anpyeong (from construction site no. 321 to 327), 14 stations, 12.7km long, one car depot. The construction of first phase, its car system being metro, was completed in 2005. The second phase will be completed by 2008. Entire construction cost 2150.5 billion won, first phase costing 1688.6 billion won, second phase costing 46.19 billion won. Busan Subway Line 3 has a very interesting point. After there was big subway accident in Korea, Busan Urban Trasit Authority (http://subway.busan.kr/eng/index.html) decided to set screen doors to all platforms in the Line 3 with constructing the line. Setting screen doors in all platform in whole line is only in Korea and hard to find in the World. Contrarily written as same "metro train," train car on Line 3 is smaller than Line 2, that on which being smaller than Line 1. Train car of the Line 3 is also interesting. There are no doors between each car box composing one whold car. Line 3 made the framework of subway transportation system by connecting between Suyeong and Yeonsan (about 30 minutes' take when using only Line 1 and 2 but about 8 minutes' take when using Line 3) , and between Yeonsan and Deokcheon (Mandeok Tunnel) (about 36 minutes' take when using only Line 1 and 2 but about 10 minutes' take when using Line 3).
