Described as a cross between Dead Kennedys , Undertones and Bonzo Dog Doo-dah Band , The Bus Station Loonies are a UK-based 'cabaret punk' band, who formed in 1995, in an attempt to put fun into the Anarcho-punk movement ('fun-archo' as it became know, embracing similar acts at the time, such as The Chineapple Punx, P.M.T., The Orphans, Hacksaw, etc). Original 'Loonies Tony Popkids (drums) and Chris Wheelchair (vocals, keyboards, kazoo; ex-drummer with Oi Polloi , Disorder , Riot/Clone and Dirt , among others) still continue with the band today, having recruited something in the region of 30 other band members in 10 years. Featuring in the UK's Channel 4 documentary "Punx Picnic", The Bus Station Loonies are current holders of the most concerts performed in 12 hours (25 different shows) in the Guinness Book Of World Records . They show no signs of retiring, despite the group's current membership including a 50 year-old publican guitarist and a mental health patient on spoons. The band's frontman Chris Wheelie currently has a solo project running called Harakiri Karaoke, and can be seen in Plymouth, scurrying between buffets; he desbribes himself as "Cheesy one-man exercise in embarrassment. Quite simply, I take classic punk songs from the different ages and genres and mutilate them almost beyond recognition on my Yamaha PSR-350 keyboards, creating a kind of punk ferry cruise cabaret."
