Before he was famous he appeared in the video for Nirvana 's " Smells Like Teen Spirit ". Bell was once romantically linked to My Ruin singer Tairrie B . He has a twin brother (Ben Bell), a musician, who lives in Huntsville, Texas . He has been a guest vocalist on many records and was also the vocalist for G//Z/R 's '' Plastic Planet '' album released in 1995. Due to commitments with Fear Factory, Bell was not the vocalist for G//Z/R's second album '' Black Science ''. After Fear Factory 's split in 2002 , Bell went on to start a solo career called Ascension Of The Watchers , which is currently on hold to allow him to focus back on Fear Factory , who reformed with new bassist, Byron Stroud . However, The Watchers have recently released an online only selling album called Iconoclast . Burton enjoys collecting '' Star Trek '' figures in his spare time and is an accomplished Moonwalk er. In Fear Factory's first album '' Soul Of A New Machine '', Bell broke down a barrier. He mixed deep Death Grunt s with melodic singing. It was new at that time and it inspired many other metal vocalists to do the same. On the albums after that, he stopped the death grunt and focused more on his clean vocals and a rough yell in place of the death grunt. His vocal style is usually shouted verses with a singing chorus and sometimes vice-versa. |
