PLOT The film focuses on Ronald, a young boy who wants to become a builder or surveyor when he grows up. He voices this ambition to his older and more cautious cousins, who tell him he knows nothing about the hazards of building sites, and set him a number of imaginary scenarios to see if he can recognize danger. There follow different scenes in which we see the boy "acting out" the settings as if they are real, with his cousins shaking their heads and exclaiming over his mistakes. Some of the footage is very graphic, showing the child being electrocuted, drowning in a disused quarry, buried alive, hit by a truck and crushed beneath a falling wall in different scenes. At the end of the film the boy announces he has abandoned the idea of working on a building site, and the children go outside to play. |
