On September 3 , 1939 this formation was a 2nd Line Territorial Army Tank Brigade, on May 28 , 1940 it was converted to the 2nd Motor Machine Gun Brigade and then to the 25th Tank Brigade on June 1 , 1942 . It fought in North Africa during the Tunisian campaign and in Italy . It was part of the British First Army and then the British Eighth Army . COMMANDING OFFICERS
