Formed 1941. One of the most famous British Armoured Divisions of World War Two, mainly for its role in the Battles of Northwestern Europe in 1944-45. Nicknamed 'The Black Bull' for its insignia. The division was involved in Operations Epsom and Goodwood in Normandy, the 'swan' to Amiens, the liberation of Antwerp, Operation Market Garden and the Ardennes . The division also captured areas of Northern Germany up to the Danish border including Lübeck and liberated the Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp on 15 April 1945 . COMMANDERS
