Education

Brandon Lewis was born in June 1971 in Harold Wood , Essex. He attended school at the independent Snaresbrook College in South Woodford , East London, before attending the private University Of Buckingham to study degrees in economic and law. He was was called to the Bar having completed a Bar Vocational Course at the Inns Of Court School Of Law , and has an LLM degree in commercial law from King's College, London .


Parliamentary politics

Brandow Lewis stood at the Conservative candidate for Sherwood in the 2001 General Election . Lewis achieved a 45% reduction in the Labour majority, which the incumbent MP Paddy Tipping blamed on 'a fall in voter turn-out'.Newark Advertiser

Lewis was the Campaign Manager for the 2005 General Election for Eric Pickles MP in the Brentwood And Ongar consitutency. At that election, Pickles's majority was increased from 2,800 to 12,000 (share of the vote increased from 37% to 53%).

Brandon Lewis is a member of the Political Committee of the Carlton Club .


Local government

Lewis is standing for re-election in the Hutton South Ward on May 4th 2006 , a seat that he has held since May 1998.

The Conservatives took control of Brentwood Borough Council in May 2004 following 12 years of Liberal Democrat control. Brandon Lewis was confirmed as Leader of the Council on June 23rd 2004 and has held that position since.


Employment

Lewis is a member of the Institute Of Directors , and works for Woodlands Schools Ltd., a provider of independent primary education in the Brentwood, Essex area.


Hobbies

Brandon Lewis's hobbies include reading, theatre, and cinema. He plays a variety of sports, in particular football and running. Lewis ran in the 2005 London Marathon to raise funds for the Lord's Taverners charity.
