A bowling machine consists of a box containing the mechanical parts, a feeder holding multiple balls, and a stand of sufficient height to enable the machine to bowl from the same angle as a human bowler. Bowling machines can take any ball of the appropriate size, including hard Cricket Ball s, semi-hard practice balls and tennis balls. A good machine is able to bowl seam, swing or spin at any speed up to that of the fastest human bowlers (just under a hundred miles per hour). Some machines have remote controls which allow a coach to select and time the deliveries while standing close to the batsman. |
