Prince Blaine was the third son of King Festil, and was ordained a Priest in 860. In 862, he was named a Bishop , and in 867, Archbishop of Rhemuth . But in 868, he renounced his vows, because the Kingdom was in need of an heir to the throne. He was named Duke of Rhemuth in 872. Soon after his coronation, King Blaine traveled to Torenth to swear Fealty to King Imre II Of Torenth . While he was gone, his uncle Rudolf, the Archbishop of Rhemuth, died, and an uprising in that city called for the return of the see to native clergy. The uprising spread into a general call for the overthrow of the Festilic dynasty in support of a descendant of King Bearand , a member of the House of Haldane . King Blaine hurried back to Gwynedd and raised an army, defeating the forces of the rebellion outside of Rhemuth. The King ordered the destruction of the city and the burning of the cathedral there. The King died in 900, and was succeeded by his son, Prince Imre . |
