The Bishop of Coventry and Lichfield headed for a period in the Middle Ages and Tudor times the Catholic diocese of Coventry and Lichfield in the Province Of Canterbury , in England . The diocese of Mercia was founded 656 by Diuma . Subsequently becoming the Diocese of Lichfield, it became linked variously with the dioceses of Coventry and Chester.
