Information AboutBill Andersen (politician) |
|
Andersen was from the traditional Republican stronghold of East Tennessee . He did fairly well in that region of the state but was very soundly defeated in the western two-thirds of the state. It was largely surmised that he had not entered the race with the intention of defeating the incumbent, Senator Jim Sasser , as much as getting better-known for a future political race, as the Republican Party seemed to have written off any chance of defeating Sasser, who appeared to be very popular at the time (although defeated by current Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist six years later). However, if Andersen had this intent he has not made a subsequent return to elective politics As Of 2005 . |
