Benedictine University is a private Catholic University located in Lisle, Illinois . Originally named St. Procopius College and located in Chicago, IL , the school was founded in 1887 by the Order Of Saint Benedict . The campus was moved to its current location in 1901. St. Procopius College changed its name to Illinois Benedictine College in 1971, which became Benedictine University in 1996.


ATHLETICS

Benedictine's athletic teams compete at the NCAA Division III level. The athletic programs include the following sports: baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, dance, football, golf, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, track, and volleyball.

The campus of Benedictine is also the home of the Major League Lacrosse team, the Chicago Machine .
