Information About

Beaver Creek Resort

The resort is known for its upscale family-oriented accommodations and great terrain. The town hires extensively from the East Coast , Australia , South America and Argentina to fill its large seasonal employee rosters. Vail Resorts (formerly Vail Associates) is the mammoth corporation that owns Beaver Creek mountain, as well as Breckenridge , Keystone , Heavenly , and Vail Mountain . The issue of ownership is particularly interesting with regards to the mountains, for as the locals all attest, the mountains are public land. Indeed, much of Vail Resorts' 'property' is on National Forests , which no one but the American public owns. However, Vail Resorts does 'lease' these properties from the National Forest Bureau. Accordingly, and to many visitor's surprise, anyone is free to use the mountain. While run-ins with ski patrol do not always confirm this fact or the ease of exploiting it, most higher-ups will more-or-less admit (however begrudgingly) that the entire mountain complex, except for the lifts, is free for the entire public so long as they do not interfere with company operations.
