As BBC Canada is effectively a Canadian channel which merely happens to be partly British-owned, the
Canadian Radio-television And Telecommunications Commission 's broadcasting regulations require it carry a quota of Canadian content. In addition to BBC programmes, therefore, it also broadcasts Canadian series such as ''

Holmes On Homes '' and more.
BBC Canada is prohibited from airing newscasts; however
BBC World newscasts are made available through the channel itself (also available on digital cable / satellite),
CBC Newsworld , and some
PBS stations carried in Canada.
